SCIM

System for Cross-domain Identity Management

The System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) is an open standard that allows for the automation of user identity management in web applications and services, including Expiration Reminder. As businesses grow and rely more on numerous applications and services, managing user identities and access becomes a challenging task. This is where SCIM steps in to simplify and standardize this process.

What is SCIM?

  • SCIM is a protocol that is designed to make managing user identities in cloud-based applications and services easier. It stands for System for Cross-domain Identity Management.

  • The primary purpose of SCIM is to standardize methods for creating, querying, and managing identities outside of a domain, in particular SaaS applications.

  • SCIM provides a defined schema for users and groups, and a RESTful API to execute Create, Read, Update, Delete (CRUD) operations.

Benefits of SCIM and Expiration Reminder

  • Automated User Provisioning: SCIM provides automatic provisioning and de-provisioning of users in Expiration Reminder, saving time and reducing errors from manual processes.

  • Automated Contact Provisioning: SCIM with Expiration Reminder also automatically provisions contacts. It will also automatically archive contacts when their user is disabled.

  • Standardization: SCIM provides a standardized way to represent users, groups, and other identity-related objects. This allows different applications and services to share identity data.

  • Improved Security: Automating identity processes helps reduce the risk of security issues. This can prevent situations such as orphaned accounts that could be exploited.

  • Reduced Costs: SCIM can help reduce the costs associated with manual identity management and provisioning, including labor and potential error correction costs.

*This integration is only available to those subscribed to Expiration Reminder's Enterprise plan (this does not include legacy plans).
